The county has implemented a comprehensive financial plan to restore structural balance to the county’s budget beginning in fiscal 2008.
Components of the county’s financial plan include implementation of a vehicle registration fee, a community college user fee, and a slight reduction in the county’s property tax rate.

The county commissioners approved an agreement today with the Ohio Department of Transportation to provide $1,440,000 in federal highway funds for the project.
The remainder of the money is the county’s $360,000 in local funds, which the county borrowed last fall and will repay from gasoline tax and motor vehicle registration fee income.

Baldacci today submitted bipartisan legislation that will invest an additional $160 million over four years in bridge construction and preservation.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has signed a bill into law that will gradually boost aid for roads and bridges throughout the state.
Before wrapping up a special session in March, House and Senate lawmakers overwhelmingly approved a bill touted by the governor to increase funding for transportation by $636 million during the next five years. The revenue will be routed from the state treasury.
